Troubleshooting Issues with Cisco Phones

If your Cisco phone is displaying "Configuring IP" but never completes configuring or is experiencing other issues, perform the following troubleshooting steps: 

  1. Verify that the network cable connecting the wall jack to the phone is properly connected at both ends. If needed, reconnect the phone cable at both ends.
  2. Reboot the the phone. Note: Non-VoIP phones cannot be rebooted. 
    1. Disconnect all the cables from the phone. Note the locations of the cables before removing them.
    2. Wait 30-45 seconds.
    3. Re-connect all the cables to the phone.
    4. The phone will take a moment to initialize and reboot.
